BLOG #4 HOW MIGHT SOME PAST OR PRESENT-DAY GROUPS OF PEOPLE RELATE TO THE LOYALISTS AND THEIR EXPERIENCES?

Today we discussed the Loyalist Migration following the Revolutionary War. Recall that the American Loyalists left their homes to start a new life, as it was becoming unsafe for them to stay where they were. The loyalists came from all walks of life; lawyers, farmers, slaves, former soldiers, etc. What they all had in common was their loyalty to the British, and the difficulties they faced once the Patriots gained momentum in the war. Loyalists had to leave their old way of life behind, and had to start over with very little. They faced many hardships, but over time formed new communities and began to thrive. Think about some of the other groups of people we have learned about in History, as well as modern-day groups of people who were forced to leave their lives/homes and start over. How might some past or present-day groups of people relate to the Loyalists and their experiences? Explain your thinking in a post.

BLOG #2 DID THE QUEBEC ACT OF 1774 LEAD TO PEACE?

The Proclamation of 1763 and the Quebec Act of 1774 both aimed for peace following Britain's take over of New France. Recall that the proclamation originally outlined large areas of land that was to be given to First Nations, as well as an assimilation plan (a plan to change) the French ways to British Ways. Due to rising conflict, the proclamation was reversed and the Quebec Act outlined a larger area for Quebec and more rights for the French. Both the Aboriginals and the Thirteen Colonies along the Ohio Valley were also affected by all the changes. You may need to refer to your information sheets. Look at the maps and the changes that took place. Think of everyone involved today (Aboriginals, French, Americans). Did the Quebec Act of 1774 lead to peace? Explain your thinking in a post.

BLOG #1 IS THE WORLD CURRENTLY EXPERIENCING A GLOBAL WAR?

In class we learned about the Seven Years War and discussed how it was the first global war. A global war is a war involving many large nations in all different parts of the world (e.g., United States, United Kingdom, Germany, France, etc.). When considering your response, remember that a global war can include conflict between two countries that is affecting the world, or combat against terrorism on a global scale. So what do you think? Is the world currently experiencing a global war? Explain your thinking in a post.
